Role and Responsibilities:
As a Waste Management Senior Diesel Mechanic, you will serve as a technical shop lead, conducting complex engine overhauls, advanced electrical diagnostics, and mentoring shop mechanics.
• Diagnose complex engine faults, automated transmission issues, and CAN-bus electrical networks
• Perform complete diesel engine overhauls, turbocharger replacements, and fuel injection repairs
• Rebuild heavy hydraulic cylinders, main control valves, and high-pressure pumps on collection trucks
• Mentor junior diesel technicians on safety, diagnostic steps, and repair standards
• Review work orders, manage parts inventory requisitions, and audit shop safety protocols
• Perform quality assurance inspections on repaired fleet vehicles before returning them to service
Required Skills and Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED required; formal diesel trade school diploma strongly preferred
• 5+ years of progressive diesel mechanic experience on commercial heavy trucks
• Mastery of advanced electronic diagnostic tools and complex hydraulic system schematics
• Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
• Physical stamina to maneuver heavy truck parts (up to 70 lbs) and perform heavy shop labor
Preferred Qualifications:
• Multiple ASE certifications in Medium/Heavy Truck (T2, T4, T6, T8)
• Prior shop lead or supervisory experience
• Certified welder / fabricator
